Agus Ceapóga á gcur i láthair samhlaí­tear go mbíonn na focail á gceapadh extempore ­ cé go mbí­onn an chumadóireacht déanta roimh ré de ghnáth.

Bí­onn ceol ní­os éadroime agus ní­os simplí ag gabháil leis na Ceapóga ná mar a bhí­onn leis na Lúibíní­ agus ní­ bhíonn ach lí­ne nó dhá líne sna véarsaí­ beaga fuinte fáiscithe seo.

Extempore Verse:

The word Ceapóg suggests an impromptu composition of the verses. These verses of one or two lines are sung to a lively tune followed by a chorus of lilting nonsense words as in the Lúibí­n. 

The one or two lines are usually apt or witty remarks and measured retorts.  While the chorus is being sung a performer has an opportunity to consider the next verse.  In practice however most if not all of the composition is prepared in advance.
